A year after greeting students with a world record-breaking two tons of stir fry, UMass Amherst welcomed back the student body with another absolute mountain of food – this time, 6,656 pounds of seafood stew.

The concoction contained about 1,000 pounds of mussels, lobster, clams, haddock and salmon, in addition to tons of typical stew ingredients like potatoes, bacon (145 pounds of it!) and onions. The student-run garden at UMass provided much of the food that was used for the stew.

We’ll give you a minute to clean up the drool collecting in front of you. Ready? OK, now check out pictures of the school’s custom 14-foot frying pan, which we imagine they will use for a massive cookout every Labor Day for the foreseeable future.

Good thing the guys from Karlson & McKenzie didn’t hear about this in time, or else there would have been many UMass students with sad faces and empty plates.
