While there is no official record being kept for the most retweets in the history of Twitter, Justin Bieber is reportedly approaching the all-time record with his recent fan tribute on Twitter.
The tweet was a tribute to 6-year-old Avalanna Routh of Merrimac, N.H., a.k.a. “Mrs. Justin Bieber,” who died of brain cancer on Wednesday. Back in February, Routh got her wish to ‘meet her husband’ as she spent Valentine’s Day with Bieber after a Facebook campaign made it happen.
Bieber’s tweet from the day Routh passed away has now rocketed to over 211,000 retweets and counting.
A Twitter spokesperson told Mashable of the tweet: “That’s a big one. But there have been other Tweets RT-ed more than that over the years .” Note the wink, indicating that Bieber’s tweet is not the most-retweeted ever…Yet.
RIP Avalanna. i love you—

There’s no way to see the exact list of the most retweeted tweets, but Mashable discovered this tweet from Wendy’s that is slightly ahead of Bieber, but quickly losing ground. To put this in perspective, a tweet from the freaking President of the United States about same-sex marriage received a measly 61,000+ RTs.
Do you know of any tweets with over 200,000 retweets?
