2012 was a fantastic year for local concerts, as many popular artists hit the road for major tours and stopped in Boston along the way. Here, we recap 2012 with the top 5 concerts of the year.
Honorable mentions go to Gotye, who performed at the Bank Of America Pavilion, Waka Flocka who performed at the House of Blues, Sean Paul performed at the Paradise Rock Club and Steve Aoki played the Palladium. But as great as those shows were, they didn’t make the top 5.
Here are the biggest live highlights from Boston in 2012:
5. LMFAO at the DCU Center
RedFoo explained to fans that Sky Blu had to sit it out the concert due to a bad back (guess he’d been party rocking a little too hard), but despite a short-handed group, RedFoo of LMFAO carried the show at the DCU Center in Worcester Sunday, July 1st to the delight of the 8,000+ in attendance. 4. Mary J. Blige at the Bank Of America Pavilion
The soulful Mary J. Blige returned to Boston for the first time in years on Tuesday, August 21st as part of her Liberation tour alongside D’Angelo. Anytime an R&B legend like Mary J. comes through your town, you have to stop and take notice.
Mary tweeted after the show:
2 my Boston Fam!! Your energy was Amazing tonight!!! I Had a Blast!!! Thank U so much!!! I Love U!!

3. Wiz Khalifa & Mac Miller at the Comcast Center
Wiz Khalifa and fellow Pittsburgh rapper Mac Miller lit up (literally and figuratively) the sellout Comcast Center crowd on August 1st. A month later, Wiz and fiance’ Amber Rose would announce to the world that they’re expecting their first child.
2. J-Lo & Enrique at the TD Garden
Multi-talented pop superstar and former American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez performed with Enrique Iglesias at the TD Garden in Boston Wednesday, July 25th as part of their joint tour. The singer sold out virtually every date on her Dance Again World Tour, and Boston was no different in that regard. Read the full concert review here.

Touring in support of his third studio album, Believe, the multi-platinum Justin Bieber traveled to Boston Saturday, November 10 and played a sellout crowd at the TD Garden, his first time back since November 2010.
Fresh off his brief breakup with Selena Gomez, the Biebs delivered a 20-song set to the Boston faithful. Read the full Concert Review here.
