A few days before Christmas, Demi Lovato took to Twitter to give a heads up that she’d be releasing a tribute to the families and victims of the Newtown, CT shooting on Christmas Eve.

True to form, the singer posted an intimate, acoustic performance of “Angels Among Us” on her YouTube channel that evening. The song was originally recorded by the country band Alabama in 1993 as a Christmas single. Lovato puts her own stamp on this performance, giving it a heartfelt turn.
The singer issued a message along with the recording, urging fans to visit WeAreNewtown.org.
“We can never imagine what the families in Newtown, CT are experiencing right now. And while there is nothing we can do to replace their loss, we can stand together and support them during this difficult time. This song is in honor of those angels we lost on December 14.”
