This week’s Badass Chick is Celine Vienneau, a mother and daughter who is overcoming the loss of her father by raising money for ALS.
For the past 7 years, Celine has been working at a center which helps to rehabilitate adolescents who have experienced complex trauma, mental illness or behavioral struggles. It’s a tough job. As her husband puts it, there are times Celine comes home from work with bruises on her body, and other times she comes home from work feeling like she just won an Olympic gold medal because one of her clients landed their very first job. In addition to working full time, she is going back to school and also raising her 2-year-old son.
Two Novembers ago, Celine’s father was diagnosed with ALS and he passed away that January. Since then, she has made it her mission to raise money for ALS so no other family has to deal with what she dealt with, and she’s participating in the Worcester Walk to Defeat ALS tomorrow. Her team’s goal was to raise $2,000 – and they exceeded that goal by over a thousand dollars.
I love that despite her emotionally taxing job and very difficult schedule, Celine has found time to give back to others in hopes of finding a cure for a disease that is so unforgiving. For that, she is my Badass Chick of the Week!
