‘Sorry’ Songwriter Wynter Gordon Explains Beyonce’s Infamous “Becky With The Good Hair” Lyric

By: Eric Donnelly

If you had to pick the most infamous lyric off of Beyonce’s groundbreaking Lemonade, without a doubt it would be “he better call Becky with the good hair.”

From the moment the line was uttered people began attacking anyone who could’ve threatened the sanctity of Bey and Jay-Z’s marriage, most notably Rita Ora and Rachel Roy. Now, Diana Gordon — formerly Wynter Gordon — sets the record straight on who the line is about in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

“I laughed, like this is so silly. Where are we living?” she told the news outlet. “I was like, ‘What day in age from that lyric do you get all of this information? Is it really telling you all that much, accusing people?'” It’s Beyonce, Diana — of course the BeyHive would be up in arms about the lyrics!

“The idea started in my mind but it’s not mine anymore. It was very funny and amusing to me to watch it spread over the world!” She must’ve been watching the chaos unfold after its release with a bucket of popcorn in her hands.
