Even though only seven seasons of Pretty Little Liars were ordered, diehard fans knew that the series wasn’t officially over until showrunner I. Marlene King said so. With prospects of movies and spinoffs on the horizon, King’s end gAme could have extended way beyond the show’s series finale.
Unfortunately, yesterday we learned that season seven truly marks the end of Pretty Little Liars, because the cast, and more importantly, I. Marlene King herself said so. How will we get through Tuesdays?!
Liars Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson, Lucy Hale, Shay Mitchell and Sasha Pieterse sat down with their show mom to make the heartbreaking announcement via PLL’s official Facebook page yesterday afternoon. To make matters worse, King revealed that the show’s usual winter return has been pushed back to the spring, which means that the final ten episodes of PLL won’t be airing until April of 2017. It also sounds like fans won’t be getting a Halloween or Christmas episode to tide themselves over during PLL’s seven month hiatus.
To soften the blow, King promised that all of our questions will finally be answered in the final ten episodes, and she revealed that the series finale will be two hours long. As Lucy Hale said in the announcement, “all good things must come to end,” but at least the end will be a tad longer than usual.
