Selena Gomez Has Reportedly Checked Into Rehab to Fight Depression

by Alisha Jackson

Take this news with a grain of salt, as the source comes from a tabloid, but according to RadarOnline, Selena Gomez has checked herself into rehab to fight depression.

Based on the cancellation of Gomez’s remaining Revival tour dates, and her deafening social media silence, the timing of her reported rehab admittance seems to check out.

The singer’s last tweet mourned the loss of her close friend, musician Christina Grimmie.

And her last Instagram post featured the final image from her Revival tour.

“As many of you know, around a year ago I revealed that I have lupus, an illness that can affect people in different ways,” Selena told People. “I’ve discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges. I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off. Thank you to all my fans for your support. You know how special you are to me, but I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best. I know I am not alone by sharing this, I hope others will be encouraged to address their own issues.”

According to RadarOnline, Selena started treating her depression earlier this month when she checked into a rehab on the East Coast. “The facility is a women’s only facility in a secluded wooded area,” a source told Radar. “She’s staying for more than 60 days.”

The source also noted, “The rehab has a Christianity-based track, which might have been appealing given her religious background.” According to the tabloid, Selena will undergo intensive therapy while staying at the facility, which offers equine therapy.

As we said, we’re taking the news with a grain of salt. But if the rumors are true, we hope the treatment works for Selena!
