This week’s Badass Chick is Jen Whitman of Lexington. She’s running the Boston Marathon to help children go to camp for free.
Jen is in school studying elementary and special ed, so of course children hold a special place in her heart. She also has fond memories of attending camp as a child, so Jen decided to put her high school track skills to good and send 100 kids to camp. Jen is raising money for Camp Shriver of UMass Boston, which is a free camp for low-income children with and without disabilities between the ages of 8-12. It allows kids of all abilities to interact with and learn from each other.
Jen’s goal is $7500, and on Sunday she is doing a fundraiser at Sunset Cantina on Comm Ave where 15% of the food sales will go directly to Camp Shriver. So if you’re hungry, head out there on Sunday to eat some food for a good cause – and if you can’t make it out but want to donate, click here.
