This week’s Badass Chick is Julie Nashawaty, creator of Aste, which helps you know who you’re meeting with before going on an online date.
Last summer, Julie was getting ready to go on an online date. To be safe, she looked into her date and realized that – surprise! – he had allegedly robbed a bank and was out on bail looking to have some fun before he (presumably) went to jail. Yeah, he conveniently left that part out of his introduction on the dating app. Julie realized there had to be a better, safer way to date, so she created Aste.
For just $30, Julie and her team will look into your date (you have to provide basic information like first name, approximate age and location) and will get back to you in 24 hours with their report. They’ll look into the person’s online presence and take into consideration everything that is publicly available about them. It’s safe to say she’s kept many of her clients out of harm’s way – or, at the very least, made the dating process more transparent. (Yes, Julie will let you know if the person you’re supposed to be meeting for a date is, in fact, married with children…or if they’re completely catphishing you.)
I love that fact that Julie has made it her mission to keep other people – women especially – safer while trying to find love… or, whatever it is you’re looking for!
