You read that right – Snoop, who famously smokes multiple blunts a day, used to roll lowly one-steps before ‘Pac opened his mind.
On Friday night (Apr. 7) at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Brooklyn, Snoop Dogg accepted Tupac’s award on behalf of the fallen MC. In a moving, comedic, wide-ranging acceptance speech, Snoop detailed what it was like to enter the rap game alongside his friend and contemporary.
Snoop reminisced on parasailing with ‘Pac and label exec Suge Knight in the mid-nineties, buying matching Rolls Royce sedans, and how he converted from zig-zag rolling papers.
“I finally got a chance to meet ‘Pac in 1993, at a wrap party for Poetic Justice in L.A. And on that night, ‘Pac passed me my first blunt,” Snoop said to the packed Barclay’s Center.
As the crowd laughed off what appeared to be a joke, Snoop dug in. “Yo forreal… Tupac is the one that got Snoop Dogg smoking blunts. See, I was a zig-zag man before that shit.”
The 2017 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony airs Saturday, April 29 at 8:00 PM EST on HBO.
